Welcome to the Geography page

Geography and anthropology are not that distantly related in the social sciences. Geography has some many facets that you can study many things and lump them under the general title of geography. Here are my geography links. I'll miss teaching geography.

The Practicalities of Moving to Bali: A Primer for Life in the Tropics

My eBook on expat life in Bali is now available for purchase. Please click on the link to learn more about this book that you'll want to read if you plan on moving to Bali. Here's what a reader has said about this book:

"Bruce Pohlman's e-book has already been a godsend to my wife Elsha and me. He writes in an inviting and colorful way. He covers the GENERAL: culture shock, the wonders and risks of  living overseas, to the SPECIFIC - costs of living, housing, medical issues, visas, employment. He even includes much PERSONAL info: what expats are like, why he left a job in San Francisco and ended up in Bali, personal and family relationships. And much more; anything you might want to know is in his e-book, with links to helpful websites throughout. We've used it to guide us countless times; it's like having a trusted uncle who's an expert. This book should become a classic about Bali."

holder Asia - Geography Online Games , is from Sheppard Software. There are great geography games that you can play here for free. Not just for Asia, but that's my favorite.

holder Climate.org - A Project of the Climate Institute, is filled with information and articles on the world climate.

holder David Rumsey Historical Map Collection, has over 11,000 maps online. They specialize in rare maps. If you love maps, you have to check out this site.

holder Earth Album Alpha , is a simpler, slicker Flickr mash-up that allows you to explore some of the most stunning photos in the world courtesy of Google maps and Flickr. To begin your journey, just click somewhere on the map, e.g. "India". Note-- since the top Flickr images are used, the images change every few weeks; bookmark this site and check back for a different experience in a month! I put this in geography because where else can I put it. It really is cool to play with and if your students are working on social studies or geography research projects this is a great place to get some photos to add to their blog, website, or research paper.

holder Geni Web Project: Annotated Geography Websites, is a good site to get just what they claim to give you for students from elementary through high school.

holder Geography Resources, is yet another site with annotated links.

holder Geography Web Sites , is a page with a list of geography links, most of these are related to Canadian sites.

holder Geography World, is another web site with geography links, some of these include games, puzzles and quizzes.

holder Global Warming: The Pew Center on Global Climate Change, is a site dedicated to the issue of global warming and the climate.

holder Hotlist: Geography, is another web site with geography links. There is nothing special about this site, but it is another resource.

holder Life Expectancy History, has tables with the world life expectancy rankings for 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2009.

holder Multimaps.com - Online Maps to Everywhere, is a very cool, and free, map site.

holder nationalgeographic.com, has lesson plans for students from K-12.

holder National Geographic Explorer, is a student magazine filled with all sorts of cool stuff for students studying geography.

holder World Atlas and World Maps, is a place where you can get free maps of various countries, the world, the oceans, as well as other geographical information. I just used this site and it's good.

holder World Population Information, has information on the world population from 1950-2050. It also includes an international data base containing statistical tables of demographic, and socio-economic data for all countries of the world. You can also find the world POPClock which gives an up to the second simulation of world population. For a statistics freak like me this is a very cool site.
