Welcome to the Family page

This is the page for family and friends. It's not kept up as much as it should be, as my blogs have pretty much taken over the function that this page used to serve. But, I do put photos here, and will do so again soon. Keep in touch as I redesign this site.

The Practicalities of Moving to Bali: A Primer for Life in the Tropics

My eBook on expat life in Bali is now available for purchase. Please click on the link to learn more about this book that you'll want to read if you plan on moving to Bali. Here's what a reader has said about this book:

"Bruce Pohlman's e-book has already been a godsend to my wife Elsha and me. He writes in an inviting and colorful way. He covers the GENERAL: culture shock, the wonders and risks of  living overseas, to the SPECIFIC - costs of living, housing, medical issues, visas, employment. He even includes much PERSONAL info: what expats are like, why he left a job in San Francisco and ended up in Bali, personal and family relationships. And much more; anything you might want to know is in his e-book, with links to helpful websites throughout. We've used it to guide us countless times; it's like having a trusted uncle who's an expert. This book should become a classic about Bali."

February 21, 2009

Well, it's been four months since I last updated this page. Amazing. I can blame it on going back to work which, the last time, that I wrote here, I was just thinking about doing.

I've been back in Sumbawa now for six weeks this term and the last three weeks of the previous term. How's it going? I'd rather be at home in Bali. I enjoy the teaching and the technology coordinator stuff is good, but I miss the family, and this is not really where I want to be at this time of my life. That being said, this is really about the money.

I have a contract until June 30th. I'm considering extending it for another six months, maybe...it depends on a lot of factors but a decision needs to be made in the next four weeks.

Rebecca passed the first of the exams that she needs to take to graduate from Junior High and go on to high school. So we're pleased with that; she has national exams to take next month.

I have another four weeks to go until I get a vacation. I can't wait.

No new scans right now, but here is the link to the first four (soon to be back online). I'd still like to get some more old photos so if you have photos send them.

The built-in guestbook is gone, and I'm working to find a script to put in here to get one back. But in the meantime, if you click on this link you can go to my new guestbook and leave a message there.

I'm testing out a video page. Click here to see the first test.
