A late update
as usual. Life is just incredibly hectic here at school as we
are working a teacher short since two left last month. All of
us are doing extra duty so there is very little time for personal
stuff - I'm just too tired when I get home to do anything other
than veg out.
The Thailand
trip last month was excellent. The students, the two parents that
accompanied us, and Sally and I loved it. As always when you take
a group of students out on an international trip, we were exhausted
when we returned, but the experience was wonderful for the students
and us. I'd never been up in the north of Thailand before. I'm
sorry that during the years when I was regularly in Thailand that
I didn't stop up there for a few days to check things out - much
less hectic than Bangkok.
We have three
more weeks of school and then I'm out to Manila for the annual
teacher's conference which always proves interesting. I'll be
in Manila for four days and then a day in Singapore on the way
back to do a little shopping. Then back to Bali and on directly to Sumbawa.
I'll have a day to rest up, and then I'm driving Su and the kids over to Lombok. Su needs to take Sam in for a heart exam in Bali to try to find out why he's been having problems with his heart which are somewhat difficult to figure out.
I'll take Mercedes and Rebecca back to Sumbawa with me, and Su
will take Sam and Meredith to Denpasar for a few days for tests
and then back to Sumbawa again.
Other than all this things are going fairly
well. We finally managed to make the final payment to the contractor
who built the house so everything is clear on that front.
I've changed
the photos below as you can see, and I'm going to update the scanning
page next week. The photos below are some recent shots of a nyale
festival here. Nyale are these sea worms that folks catch here
every February and then cook up. Nyale festivals are an annual
occurance in the eastern islands of Indonesia.
I put a little guest book here so you can leave a message here
for us if you are having trouble reaching us by email. Thanks
for the messages in the guest book. I like hearing from you all.
