This is just
a short update as I'm trying to finish planning for the next few
weeks because I'm off on a field trip with my homeroom class in
a few days. We're going to northern Thailand to study the cultures
there and do some hiking and other activities up in the mountains.
I've started
a photo scanning project to protect and preserve all of the old
photos that we have collected over the past 15 years. When we
were back in Bali last month, I noticed that a number of the photos
are fading and/or molding due to the tropical climate and the
salt air. Since we have thousands of photos this could take a
long time. The ultimate aim is to preserve the past for my children
(and possibly grandchildren should that day ever arrive while
I'm alive to see it). You can access the photos if you click on
this link. The thumbnails
open up to bigger photos.
I've started
with the photos that I have (Su has a large collection of her
own that is stashed away in a variety of places.) I'd really like
to get the photos that may still exist from when Aaron was a child.
If anyone has them, let me know so that we can arrange a way for
me to get them. The kids here have this great desire to know more
about their American family and since it seems that face-to-face
encounters are very difficult to arrange, photos are the next
best thing. I've been making dvd films about life here that eventually
can be sent to the States - they're just to big to put on the
internet - when I find a safe way to do that. The postal service
from Sumbawa is certainly not the way to do it. Bali would be
a much better choice.
Everyone
here is fine and busy. The monsoon season is getting somewhat
depressing although we did have two straight days of no rain a
few days ago which was really wonderful.
More when
I'm back from Thailand.
I put a little guest book here so you can leave a message here
for us if you are having trouble reaching us by email. Thanks
for the messages in the guest book. I like hearing from you all.
